Foodland Farms Lahaina wins ‘best poke’ in Poke Poll on Facebook
LAHAINA – Foodland Super Market Ltd., Hawaii’s largest locally owned grocery retailer, was recently voted “Hawaii’s Best Poke,” so the kama’aina company asked customers which of its 31 stores made the best poke in Hawaii, and which variety was the favorite?
The Poke Poll on Foodland Hawaii’s Facebook page ran from June 25 through July 8 and received more than 217,000 votes. Last year, around 134,000 votes were cast.
The store that received the most votes – more than 100,000 – and won the honor of “Hawaii’s Best Store for Poke” is Foodland Farms Lahaina. The winning poke variety is Avocado Ahi.
Sullivan Family of Companies Chairman and CEO Jenai Sullivan Wall, Director of Meat and Seafood Bill Haynes and other company officials visited Foodland Farms last week Wednesday morning to present the trophy to employees.
Foodland Farms Lahaina is the original creator of Foodland’s Avocado Ahi poke, now sold at all Foodland, Sack N Save and Foodland Farms stores statewide.
Customers to Foodland Farms Lahaina are always encouraged to sample the Seafood Department’s many varieties of poke and to participate in a “poke tasting.” This fun and free tasting provides customers a sampling of various poke starting with the traditional varieties like Ahi Shoyu to the more unique or exotic creations, such as Spicy Bomb Poke or Sweet Chili Jalapeno Poke.
The department continues to create and test new poke varieties with its customers.
