Celebrate Independence Day at ‘Concert in the Park’

Lisa Owen is the founder and music director of the Maui Community Band. The group is comprised of musicians from all walks of life.
LAHAINA – The 2012 Maui Invitational Music Festival will present “Concert in the Park” on Wednesday, July 4, on the Lahaina Public Library lawn beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The open-air celebration features musical performances followed by Lahaina Town’s fireworks. Admission is free.
Stellar slack key artist George Kahumoku Jr. and the University of Hawaii Maui College Institute of Hawaiian Music will begin the evening’s entertainment.
Next, the Maui Community Band will perform traditional holiday favorites and original medleys, including “America the Beautiful,” “Stars & Stripes Forever” and “Gershwin Medley.”
The celebration ends with the spectacular fireworks display.

Kahumoku
The Maui Invitational Music Festival is presented annually by Arts Education for Children Group (AECG), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for artistic and cultural enrichment.
It is supported by the county Office of Economic Development, Hawaii Tourism Authority, Maui Chamber of Commerce and its West Side Committee.
The festival takes place throughout the year and includes a wide variety of concerts, classes and workshops for music lovers of all ages.
