Front Street sewer line projects continue
WAILUKU – The Maui County Department of Environmental Management last week announced the start of the second sewer line replacement project along the intersection of Front and Prison streets for the month of June.
The upcoming sewer line replacement project will start June 12. Due to heavy traffic, crews will work at night and keep the area open to motorists during the day.
Night time work is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. from June 12-18.
Area residents have already been notified about noise from nighttime construction, the county reported.
Day work will begin on a portion of Prison Street from Front to Luakini streets.
For this project, a road closure is slated during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 19-29.
Motorists are asked to plan their travel accordingly and take detours around the affected areas if possible.
For more information on these projects, call contractor Goodfellow Bros. Inc. at 879-5205.
The first sewer line replacement ended in late May.
According to the county, the two projects were designed to minimize impacts to traffic in the area by scheduling night work and waiting until nearby schools were out for summer break to begin construction.
