Luna honor students volunteer at Habitat for Humanity Maui
WAILUKU – Lahainaluna High School National Honor Society students recently took time off from their studies to give back to the community by helping Habitat for Humanity Maui.
Advisor Ashley Olson led the group of about 25 students, who spent the day in Wailuku at two different work sites.
A few helped to clear out an apartment unit at Harbor Lights in preparation for renovation work for a new homeowner. Items cleared out of the unit were taken to the ReStore and distributed for sale. Another group of students helped with landscape work fronting the ReStore.
Habitat for Humanity builds and renovates homes for people in need. The ReStore accepts donations of new and nearly new building materials, which reduces reusable items from going into the landfill.
Volunteers and donors may call Habitat’s offices at 242-1140 or the ReStore at 986-8050. Also, check out the organization’s website (www.habitat-maui.org) and Facebook page for news.
