LHS students win prizes at HOSA District Competition

Lahainaluna High School students advanced to the state HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Competition on Oahu later this month.
LAHAINA – Lahainaluna High School students earned top honors in the seventh annual HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) District Competition last month at Kamehameha Schools Maui.
Twenty-two LHS students advanced to the state competition, which will be held Feb. 22-23 at the Hawaii Convention Center.
The following students won awards in events at the district contest:
Biotechnology – Ezra Baccar, second place;
CPR/First Aid – Vincent Magno and Christine Mariano, third place;
Clinical Specialty – Chelsey Vierra, first place, and Hope Morikawa, second place;
Dental Spelling – Sarah Lauricio, second place;
Extemporaneous Speaking – Ho’o Cabanilla, first place, and Kiersten Gilchrist, third place;
Job Seeking Skills – Julian Bel-Robert and Brittany Treu, second place;
Pharmacology – Paige Cajudoy, first place, and Jen Nguyen, second place;
Medical Assisting – Marella Galace, first place, Reece Sinceci, second place, and Lauren Bedard, third place;
Medical Reading – Jinky Aguiran, Nathalia Haro and Ashley Magno, first place;
Medical Terminology – Haley Nakamura, second place;
Prepared Speaking – Leslie Garo, first place, and Amanda Matsuda, third place;
Sports Medicine – Amanda Arakawa, first place.
