Lions to collect slippers for West Maui students

By Staff | Jul 28, 2011

After the 2010 drive, West Maui Lions Club members brought slippers to Princess Nahienaena Elementary School.

LAHAINA — The West Maui Lions Club’s third annual “Back to School Slipper Drive” is set for Saturday, July 30.

The community is encouraged to donate new slippers for both boys and girls, all sizes and colors, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of Longs Drugs at Lahaina Cannery Mall.

After the drive, West Maui Lions will distribute the slippers to West Side middle schools for any student who needs a pair of slippers.

“We have had great support from all the local Lions Clubs on the island and as well as our great community. Our goal is to beat last year’s total of 160 pairs of slippers,” noted Event Chair Jackie Favors.

Anyone that cannot attend the event but wishes to make a donation may contact Favors at 669-6595 or Club President Charles “C.J.” Cook at 214-4403.
