By Staff | Jul 14, 2011

Fine wines and pupus await guests at tonight’s “Savor the Sunset” library benefit.

KAANAPALI — More than 200 residents and visitors will dance to the music of the acclaimed Citrus College pop band and vie for auction items on the ocean lawn of the Royal Lahaina Resort tonight in a benefit for Lahaina Public Library.

“Savor the Sunset” starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 14.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lahaina, the second annual benefit will raise funds to renovate the library and offer two dozen auction items for restaurant meals, resort stays, ocean activities and show performances.

Royal Lahaina chefs will provide a huge array of signature pupus, including sushi, coconut shrimp with mango dip, mini manapua with mustard sauce, mini ahi salads, kalua pork quesadillas and roast beef sliders.

Reservations for tickets ($35) can be made before 5 p.m. by calling the resort at 661-3611, ext. 2348. Tickets at the door are $45.

Those who cannot attend but wish to contribute can send checks written to “Maui Friends of the Library — For Lahaina Library” and mail to Maui Friends of the Library, P.O. Box 1017, Wailuku, HI 96793.
