Mayor to speak at LAC Annual Town Meeting

LAHAINA — Maui County Mayor Alan Arakawa will discuss plans for 2011 at LahainaTown Action Committee’s 23rd Annual Town Meeting on Monday, Jan. 31.

Open to the public, the event starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Pioneer Inn Courtyard.

Heavy pupus will be offered with refreshments, and a no-host open bar will be available.

Join in this town meeting and hear Mayor Arakawa’s vision for this year.

Elections for the LahainaTown Action Committee 2011 board will take place. LAC members will be asked to vote.

LahainaTown Action Committee promotes, encourages and preserves the historical, cultural, social and commercial vitality of Lahaina, the town and destination.

The group operates the Lahaina Visitor Center, specialty gift shops and Lahaina Heritage Museum in the Old Lahaina Courthouse.

On the second floor of the courthouse, LAC manages a historical showcase in the foyer and the Lahaina Heritage Museum. This free, interactive museum features “Lahaina Whaling Days & Whales Today.”

LAC also installed the Lahaina Historic Trail interpretive signs and orientation maps throughout town, offering a glimpse into Lahaina’s colorful past.
