LAHAINA — The Rotary Club of Lahaina is selling Whale Watch tickets for $15 each to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Maui-West Maui Club, announced Rotary President Carmen Karady.
She explained that the tickets are good for the entire whale season through April 15, 2011. The 50-foot power catamaran operated by Boss Frog Dive and Surf Shop leaves daily for the sunset cruise from Maalaea Harbor from 4 to 6 p.m. Patrons board at 3:30 p.m.
Karady explained that the donated tickets have a value of $2,000.
Bill Kasper, owner of Boss Frog Dive and Surf Shops, gave the tickets for Rotary to use for the boys and girls when he spoke to the group recently.
“The Boys and Girls Clubs of Maui are a great asset to our community. The West Maui Club serves an average of 80 kids a day. They are able to spend their time after school in a safe environment, where they can participate in sports, arts, educational activities, cooking, field trips and more. We’re so happy to receive this generous gift of Whale Watch tickets to help support them,” said Karady.
Located at Lahaina Recreation Center, the West Maui club sits on a wide expanse of grassy land fronted by shade trees and a playing field for soccer, football, track and other field sports.
The Boys and Girls Club plans to use proceeds from the ticket sales to purchase tables and chairs that can be used outside for doing homework after school or other activities.
Whale Watch tickets, $15 each, can be purchased by calling Liz May at AAAAA Rent-A-Space at 669-5200 or Carmen Karady at 276-4629.
