LAHAINA — “E Ho’omalu O Hawaii,” the Maui celebration of the inauguration of Gov. Neil Abercrombie and Lt. Gov. Brian Schatz, will be held at the Lahainaluna High School Football Field on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The community is welcome to attend this free event.

“E Ho’omalu O Hawaii” literally translates as “to protect Hawaii” with wisdom, integrity and compassion.

To validate their commitment to voters, Abercrombie and Dr. Nancie Caraway are hosting this Maui gathering at the newly constructed Lahainaluna field that overlooks beautiful scenery from the West Maui Mountains.

Each Neighbor Island county is holding a confirmation ceremony as an extension of the official inaugural ceremony held Dec. 6 on the grounds of ‘Iolani Palace in Honolulu.

The Lahaina gathering will include a protocol welcome, time to greet the new governor, entertainment and light refreshments.
