Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise taking orders for Christmas trees

By Staff | Oct 14, 2010

Susan Nealy of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise traveled to Corvallis, Oregon, last month to personally thank Dave Silen at Holiday Tree Farms.

LAHAINA — Since the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise began selling Christmas trees in 2005, Holiday Tree Farms Inc. has shipped over 2,200 noble fir plantation Christmas trees in refrigerated containers across miles of ocean to be enjoyed by this small Maui community.

As the club’s annual fund-raiser, members rely on the beauty, fragrance and long-lasting quality of these beautiful, fresh cut four- and six-foot trees and gorgeous wreaths to bring the community out in support of their benefit.

Money raised goes to provide scholarships for Lahaina students, support the Lahaina Complex After School Tutor Project, feed residents at the Lahaina homeless resource center, fund a team in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life and stage a safety fair at Lahaina Cannery Mall.

In an effort to thank the management at Holiday Tree Farms, Susan Nealy of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise flew from Maui into Portland, then on to Corvallis.

“As the largest Christmas tree grower in the world, the selection and quality of these trees is unmatched,” she said while visiting one of their many farms with Dave Silen.

“Together, not only do we help to ensure the long-term viability of local agriculture in Oregon, but we bring joy and much aloha to those enjoying Christmas on Maui.”

Tree and wreath sales begin this month. To place an order, call 667-2712.
