KAANAPALI — Beyond the Rainbow Foundation and the Kaanapali Golf Courses invite the public to the LPGA Golf Clinic on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m.
As part of the Aloha Team Classic, a charity event now in its fifth year, LPGA Tour Professionals Anna Grzebien, Angela Jerman and Kim Welch will participate in a two-hour clinic to share their experiences and golf tips.
This is the second year that the Beyond the Rainbow Foundation, a nonprofit public charity, has hosted the LPGA Golf Clinic as part of its annual four-day Aloha Team Classic golf event in October to raise money for Maui’s youth.
An all-volunteer organization, the foundation’s focus is: “Helping Maui’s youth realize the promise of their future!”
Participants from around the world come to Maui to play in a three-day golf tournament with the option to play alongside LPGA players, enjoy great evening events and experience paradise.
Events the last four years generated over $50,000, which was granted to various nonprofit organizations that provide much-needed services to support Maui youth.
Two years ago, Beyond the Rainbow began including the LPGA players in the event, giving participants the opportunity to play alongside these fantastic young ladies.
Last year, the clinic was added to the list of activities held during the Aloha Team Classic week. More than 75 people, both young and old, enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the game of golf.
Everyone is encouraged to join in the fun at the Kaanapali Golf Courses’ facility. Clinic attendees will have the chance to meet the LPGA players, ask questions, take pictures and get autographs.
Young people ages ten and older will be encouraged to participate during the clinic (bring one or two clubs to get individualized tips). All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Kaanapali Golf Courses has supported the Aloha Team Classic for four years.
Debbi Katz, foundation president, said, “Without the support of all our supporters, it would be impossible to host an event of this magnitude. Kaanapali Golf Courses are always supportive of activities that benefit Maui’s youth, and their enthusiasm for this year’s event and clinic has been fantastic.”
The Aloha Team Classic 2010 will be held from Oct. 17-20. There are still amateur player spots open for the entire four-day event, as well as limited spots available for anyone wanting to play one day alongside one of the LPGA players on Oct. 19 or 20. Anyone interested in playing should contact the Foundation at (808) 665-5815 as soon as possible.
Evening events include the Sunset Welcome Reception at the Kapalua Beach Club with the meal prepared by the Maui Culinary Academy, and the Dinner Finale at Son’z Maui at the Hyatt Regency Maui. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
