NAPILI — Thirteen seniors at Maui Preparatory Academy have begun a special course in oral communication and leadership sponsored by Toastmasters at Kapalua.

The Youth Leadership Program will provide the senior students of Maui Prep the opportunity to become better listeners, thinkers and public speakers. They will also practice how to conduct meetings.

The program was developed by Toastmasters International to help the young people of today become the leaders of tomorrow. It uses materials especially adapted for youth from the regular Toastmasters International public speaking program.

More than three million people have benefited from the adult Toastmasters program since it was introduced in 1924.

For information on joining Toastmasters at Kapalua, contact Mike Lanzo at m_lanzo@hotmail.com. The group meets Tuesdays at 8 a.m. at the Adventure Center Conference Room, 2000 Village Road.
