LAHAINA — American Savings Bank recently contributed a $10,000 grant to Sacred Hearts School.
The funds were used to build an outdoor amphitheater that will be used for outdoor education classes and school assemblies.
“We are appreciative of American Savings Bank’s support of our school,” said Parent Teacher Group President Joanna Stockham, who spearheaded the fund-raising project.
“The timing of the grant comes at a great time, as we were able to get the amphitheater completed before the new school year got underway.”
The two-level, semicircle rock amphitheater seats approximately 45 students. It was crafted by Howard Lolesio, a parent at Sacred Hearts School.
“American Savings Bank has been a longtime supporter of education, and we felt it was important to help our local schools,” said Bonnie West, Lahaina Branch manager.
Established in 1872, Sacred Hearts School is a small, private Catholic school with 229 students in grades pre-kindergarten through eight. Its mission is to provide excellence in education and to nurture a life of prayer, faith and service in the Catholic tradition.
