New presidents head Lahaina’s Rotary Clubs
LAHAINA — Lahaina’s two Rotary Clubs started their new fiscal year each with a new president.
Yoga instructor and retired professor Carmen Karady heads up the Lahaina Rotary that meets Thursdays at noon at Outback Steakhouse in the Lahaina Gateway Shopping Center, and Bank of Hawaii Vice President and Branch Manager Ann Neizman leads the Sunrise Club that meets Tuesdays at 7 a.m. in Snug Harbor at the Pioneer Inn.
Both clubs conduct major service projects for the community, including a recent event to raise funds to begin a facelift for Lahaina Public Library, fund-raising for community initiatives through the sale of Christmas trees during the holidays, providing dictionaries and supplies to children at local schools, and running youth leadership camps for children 14 and older.
“Both our clubs are seeking to grow our membership this year and do even more for the community,” said Karady.
She stressed that the two Lahaina clubs often work together.
“Joining either club is a great way to connect with people in the community,” she said.
