Napili Plaza to collect school supplies
NAPILI — On Saturday, July 31, Napili Plaza will take a ride to the past with Jimmy Mac and the Kool Kats and their 1960s cover tunes.
Everyone is invited to this free event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Keiki from Maui Academy of Performing Arts will also dazzle the crowd with their dance moves.
The show is only part of the focus, as Napili Plaza and its merchants are supporting West Maui families and children with a Back-To-School supplies drive with the Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center (QLCC).
Bring pencils, pens and any new school supplies for children from kindergarten to high school, then enter a free drawing for great prizes from Napili Plaza merchants.
In 1998, U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye founded the Ready To Learn Program, and with the help of the Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center, provided basic school supplies for approximately 2,000 children each year.
In recent years, another nonprofit, Helping Hands Hawaii, has also helped in this program by providing funding support for Maui kids.
