DLNR Maui Boating Office to close during move
KAHULUI — The state Department of Land and Natural Resources’ (DLNR) Maui District Boating Office will be unavailable for business transactions from 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 until 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010.
During this period, the office will be closed due to a combination of furlough closure days on Dec. 24 and 31, the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day holidays, weekends and its move to a new location Dec. 28 to 30.
It will reopen on Jan. 4, 2010 at a new location: 159 Maalaea Boat Harbor Road, first floor — the same building as Buzz’s Wharf Restaurant at Maalaea Small Boat Harbor.
The district office phone numbers will not change. The office move is a cost-saving step and provides greater accessibility to boaters and more parking, DLNR reported.
Business transactions with the Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) can still be handled at Lahaina Small Boat Harbor, Maalaea Small Boat Harbor or by mail during the closure period. Vessel registration renewal can also be conducted online at http://hawaii.gov/dlnr/dbor.
For more information, call the Maui harbor offices at 662-4060 (Lahaina) or 243-5818 (Maalaea).
