Walgreens to open first full-service store in Lahaina
LAHAINA — Walgreens will open its first full-service store with a drive-through pharmacy in Lahaina on Sunday, Oct. 4.
The 342 Keawe St. store will begin grand opening festivities at 11 a.m. and open at 11:45 a.m.
As part of the grand opening celebration, Walgreens will present a donation to Hui O Wa‘a Kaulua (Assembly of the Double-Hulled Canoe) of Lahaina.
Following a Hawaiian blessing and dedication ceremony led by Kahu Earl Kukahiko, lay pastor of Waiola Church in Lahaina, the store will open and a block party will begin.
Continuing until 4 p.m., the block party at Lahaina Gateway center will feature entertainment by Willie K, keiki hula by Na Kamali‘i Nani o Lahaina, face painting, a balloon artist/magician and neighboring businesses and vendors, including Coca-Cola, Outback Steakhouse, Panda Express and Starbucks.
The 15,238-square-foot store will be Walgreens’ fifth full-service store in Hawaii; the other four are located on Oahu. There are four pharmacy-only locations on Maui — two in Wailuku and two in Lahaina.
“We are making steady progress with bringing our services to more residents of the islands,” said Dana Psomas, Walgreens Hawaii district manager, noting that Walgreens plans to eventually open 25 to 30 stores in Hawaii. “Our block party will be a great way for us to get to know our neighbors and give them a venue to promote their products or services,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to also getting to know our customers on Maui better so that we can meet their needs.”
The new Lahaina store will be open 7 a.m. to midnight seven days a week. The pharmacy will be open Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
