KAANAPALI — T S Restaurants of Hawaii continued its proactive support of youth sports here on the West Side as Leilani’s on the Beach, its restaurant at Whalers Village in Kaanapali, presented a $4,000 check to Don Rosenthal of the West Maui Youth Athletic Association.

Leilani’s General Manager Jason Donez presented the check to Rosenthal and West Maui Parks and Recreation Program Director Steve Ashfield at a special luncheon held last week.

The funds were raised at the popular beach side restaurant’s anniversary party earlier this year.

“We celebrated by donating all of the bar receipts from that event to the West Maui Youth Athletic Association,” said Donez, the dad of two children and a coach in the West Maui Youth Basketball League.

“We also received donations from various individuals and businesses from the community toward these organizations. It is really nice to see the community support the youth programs.”

Rosenthal, the commissioner of the highly successful WMYBL, noted that the donation will be used for the hoops league and the Lahaina Junior Golf program that teed off for the inaugural season last week.

“We are extremely grateful to Jason Donez and Leilani’s for their continuing support of the programs for the kids. It is these kinds of individuals and businesses that bring success to our youth and make West Maui a special place to live,” Rosenthal said.
