Community welcome to take a stand for children

KAHULUI — Maui Family Support Services (MFSS) will present the 14th annual Stand for Children Rally and Celebration on Sunday, Sept. 20.
The free, family friendly event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center.
“The rally has continued to grow in popularity with more activities every year,” said event Co-coordinator Leinell Coloma-Nahooikaika, MFSS Teen Services/Family Involvement Team coordinator.
“Our goal is to ensure that all children grow up healthy, educated and safe. This event showcases vital community resources that empower and strengthen families who may need assistance, especially in these difficult economic times.”
Community agencies, civic organizations and groups concerned with the well-being of children and families will provide important information and child-friendly activities
such as face painting, puzzles and artwork.
There will be free on-stage entertainment by local musicians and performers, including performances by children.

The Stand for Children Campaign is a nationwide program that began in l995 in Washington, D.C. It advocates for child care, schools and other essential programs that give children a fair chance in life.
