USDA to discuss funding under Recovery Act

KAHULUI — USDA Rural Development will host a community meeting on Thursday, May 14, to discuss agency funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

The meeting will be held at Maui Community College Ka‘a‘ike Room 105 C and D from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. To register, contact Daryl Atay at 871-5500, extension 116, or daryl.atay@hi.usda.gov.

Staff will provide information on the different USDA Rural Development programs that have ARRA funding.  Programs being covered include Broadband Loans and Grants; Business and Industry Guaranteed Loans; Rural Business Enterprise Grants; Community Facility Direct Loans, Grants and Combinations (grant and loan); and Water and Waste Direct Loans, Grants and Combinations.

At the conclusion, meeting participants will have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with USDA staff to further discuss potential projects.

The overall mission of USDA Rural Development is to deliver programs to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. 

As a venture capital entity, Rural Development provides equity and technical assistance to finance and foster growth in home ownership, business development, and critical community and technology infrastructure.
