Kokua for Lahaina benefit concert slated at Kihei Charter School

The benefit will feature entertainment by Crossing Rain, Timeline, Anthony Fluke (pictured) and Uplift Maui, an aerial silk performing acrobatic team.

KIHEI — The Kokua for Lahaina benefit concert will be held at Kihei Charter School on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 3 to 7 p.m. on the great lawn performance area at the campus located at 650 Lipoa Parkway.

The goal is to raise $7,500-plus, with all proceeds to be donated to the Maui Strong Fund. The event is being planned by Kihei Charter School students.

Headline entertainment will include popular musical artists Crossing Rain, Timeline, and a solo performance by Anthony Fluke. Intermission entertainment will be provided by Uplift Maui an aerial silk performing acrobatic team. Food trucks will also be onsite.

State Sen. Angus McKelvey, whose district encompasses West Maui, will speak at the event.

Nikko Summers, a senior at the school helping to organize the event, said that the goal, besides raising money to help famiiies in need, is “to send a message of hope and to be a part of helping the Maui Ohana recovery.”

Several students from Lahainaluna High School are now attending the charter school.

Tas Cogliandro, a junior at the charter school and a co-organizer of the fundraiser, hopes to send a message “that students want to help and to help people to see the value of the charter school in the community.”

Tickets are $15 for Kihei Charter School students, purchased before Oct. 20, and may be bought in the schools’ third floor administrative offices. General admission is $25. This is an alcohol-, smoking- and drug-free event.
