By Staff | Feb 10, 2023

LAHAINA — Jazz Maui presents the Sunset Jazz concert series, featuring world-class live jazz music and chocolate/beverage pairings, every Sunday in February from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Maui Ku’ia Estate Chocolate Factory at 78 Ulupono St. in Lahaina.

Different artists perform each week. For tickets, visit https://www.mauichocolate.com/sunset-jazz/ or Jazz Maui.org.

On Sunday, Feb. 12, vocalist Sheryl Renee, along with Paul January on keyboards and trumpet and Howie Renzer on drums, present “For My Sweet,” a show for Valentine’s Day.

The Hi C’s Dixieland Band will bring a taste of New Orleans to Maui on Sunday, Feb. 19. Performing as the Hi C’s Dixieland Band are Paul January, trumpet; Michael Guzalek, clarinet; Jimmy C, drums; Loren Tilley, banjo: and Colton Rafanan, tuba.

Latin/Brazilian jazz is featured on Sunday, Feb. 26, when the Godinez Family Trio takes the stage. The whole family does vocals, and Estaire plays the congas, Felipe is on bass and Sal tickles the ivories.

Every Sunday, concert goers can enjoy great jazz and sunset views, along with their purchases of award-winning chocolate and their choice of beverage from an extensive selection of wine, spirits and beer.

During the Sunset Jazz concerts, the chocolate factory features a carefully curated wine, spirits and beer list along with three flights of chocolate and beverage pairings for purchase. Some classic pairings, such as ports and reds, are offered along with others that are unexpected, such as sake and tequila. Or, imbibers can create their own pairing with or without the assistance of experienced Chocolate Sommeliers. Nonalcoholic beverages are also available.

Sunset Jazz concert attendees must be 21 or older and have a valid photo ID.

Seating is limited, so advance ticket purchase is required at https://www.mauichocolate.com/sunset-jazz or Jazz Maui.org. Maui Ku’ia Estate Chocolate, through its Chocolate Laulima program, supports local nonprofit organizations such as Arts Education for Children Group/Jazz Maui.

Proceeds from concert ticket sales benefit Jazz Maui’s music education programs. Jazz Maui, a branch of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Arts Education for Children Group, provides opportunities for participation in high-quality jazz music education and performances.

Jazz Maui also presents concerts, classes and clinics throughout the year and edited stream performances on its website.
