“Beyond Corona on Earth Day” will feature several 3D films by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and world explorer Tom Vendetti.
Composer/pianist Robert Pollock will be joined by violinist Rona Landrigan and cellist Cheryl Lindley in the USA premiere of an Ebb & Flow Arts-commissioned work, “Scary Time in the Corona Era,” by South Korean composer Shinhee Park.
“We will explore our hopeful release from the trauma of the Coronavirus,” Pollock noted. “Vendetti’s films will travel the world on Earth Day!”
Exotic film locations will include Kilauea on Hawaii Island, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Mt. Kailash in Tibet, and the Northern Lights of Norway.
Sound tracks will feature eminent West Coast composers, including Lou Harrison, Harry Partch and Terry Riley, as well as Ugandan composer Justinian Tamusuza. Pollock will also premiere his “Elegy to the victims of COVID-19.”
An E&FA-commissioned music video, “Xenochrome,” by painter Michael Takemoto and composer Robert Wehrman, and an experimental film by Dom and Lee Michael Walczuk, “Wait For Me,” with music by Moby, will also be part of the rich and diverse program.
Finally, E&FA will screen Carl Sagan’s profound “Pale Blue Dot,” an ode to the Earth.
