Theatre Theatre Maui returns to Fuzzbox Studios for spring classes

A group of teen actors enrolled in Theatre Theatre Maui’s recent spring break character development workshop create a bank-line scene.

LAHAINA — A series of youth performing arts classes is scheduled to be held again at Fuzzbox Studios (207 Kupuohi St., Suite 4) commencing the end of March and running through mid-May.

Theatre Theatre Maui (TTM) and GreatScott Productions team up once more to bring a full gambit of fun drama classes from beginning drama for the little keiki, from age five, to advanced acting for those 12 years and up. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Noted Scott, “All classes will be taught by Maui actor/writer/teacher, the amazing Mr. Francis Taua. Two of the class series are ‘Out of the Trunk,’ during which we use a new set of costumes each week to create stories. This has been very popular besides lots of fun. ‘Mr. Francis’ has been seen on stage with Maui Academy of Performing Arts, Maui OnStage and ProArts and brings years of experience to the classes he teaches with humor and knowledge.”

The eight-week series of one-hour classes is $95, and the two-hour class (advanced acting) is $180. Arrangements may be made for some of the “Out of the Trunk” classes to be on a drop-in basis, but with all classes, registration needs to be made in advance.

Sibling discounts and need-based scholarships are available, thanks to TTM’s donors. For more details and to register online, go to https://www.TTMwestmaui.org/register/classes/.

Supported by the County of Maui Office of Economic Development, the Somerville-Olsson Charitable Fund, and numerous individuals and businesses, TTM is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) formed in Lahaina in 1991 with a mission of providing a full spectrum of hands-on theater experiences for the children and adults of the West Maui community.
