The annual Maui Open Studios Event is back for 2022. In a modified version of this popular event, MOS 2022 will kick off with the first weekend of the artist open studios with Maui County COVID-19 protocols in place.
This year, there will be no Opening Celebration/Preview Exhibition due to COVID-19 protocols.
Art lovers should check MauiOpenStudios.com for all event updates, including possible last-minute changes of dates and artists who may not be able to open physically.
The 11th annual Maui Open Studios Event is currently scheduled for three weekends in February: South Maui, Feb. 12 and 13; West, North, Central and East Maui, Feb. 19 and 20; and Upcountry Maui, Feb. 26 and 27.
With self-guided tours, hours for the weekend shows are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The event gives local artists the opportunity to open up their studios and exhibition spaces to show and sell their work to the public as well as “talk story,” connect and inspire visitors through one-on-one interactions and, in some cases, live demonstrations.
Many of the artists will be having their shows fully or partially outdoors this year.
The entire event is free to the public. The mission of MOS is to connect the art community directly with art lovers and art buyers on Maui.
The event offers a great way for art-loving locals and tourists to experience unique opportunities to connect with both local Maui artists and visiting artists islandwide and to purchase their art.
For the 2022 event, there are over 100 participating artists — including over 40 artists new to the event — working in various mediums including ceramics, photography, mixed media, glass, wood, fiber, drawing, painting and sculpture.
Art lovers should visit MauiOpenStudios.com for all of the online resources that will help them design their self-guided tours, including a comprehensive and interactive Google map, online artist directories for each weekend and a digital PDF of the event guidebook.
During the event, red directional MOS signs and artist venue signage will also help them find artist locations.
Dates are subject to change. For more information about the event, visit MauiOpenStudios.com.
