Maui County Senior Fair to be held virtually
WAILUKU — The 48th annual Senior Fair will return virtually for the second time in the event’s history beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, and preparations are under way.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and in the interest of protecting the health and safety of everyone, this year’s celebration will be held virtually via Zoom, live-streamed on Facebook and broadcast on Akaku Channel 54.
The theme of this year’s event is “Communities of Strength,” celebrating the resilience and strength of our kupuna, with information, entertainment and fellowship.
Legislators, for-profit businesses and nonprofits are encouraged to participate by commercial, pre-recorded message via Zoom.
Applications must be completed and submitted to Maui Economic Opportunity no later than Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, to confirm participation.
Applications are available online at www.meoinc.org.
For-profit businesses can submit a 60-second commercial for a $25 participation fee.
There is no cost for nonprofit agencies or legislators to join the Senior Fair, though gift cards of $10 or $20 increments would be appreciated for door prizes for kupuna.
All commercials and messages must be no longer than 60 seconds and must be prerecorded and submitted in MP4 format by the deadline on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021.
Legislators may choose to speak virtually during the event, but they must complete an application and submit it to MEO no later than Sept. 27, 2021, to confirm participation.
This event is produced by MEO and funded by the Maui County Office on Aging. For more information, contact Lee Imada at lee.imada@meoinc.org or 249-2990.
