The MACC announces a pause in programming

By Staff | Mar 24, 2020

KAHULUI – In support of current county, state and federal governmental and health agency recommendations, and in light of the worldwide efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Maui Arts & Cultural Center has postponed all public programming until further notice.

This decision is guided by the MACC’s commitment to help ensure the health and safety of the entire community.

The center made this difficult announcement in coordination with its many partners in the visual and performing arts, from artists both local and global, island vendors, schools, and MACC employees, board and volunteers.

MACC President and CEO Art Vento stated, “The arts have historically been a source of comfort, inspiration and respite during trying times, so it is with both concern for the present and hope for the near future that we make this decision to limit public interactions during this period of threat to public health.

“We understand the social responsibility of an institution like the MACC, and strive to help keep the whole community healthy in mind, body and spirit. This is a pause in the programming ? an intermission, in theater terms. We look forward to the day when we can announce a resumption in schedule and continue to bring the enriching power of the arts to all on Maui. We will remain in contact with any further updates through our website, e-mail and social media sites.”
