Maui Minyo Kai to host annual dance recital
KAHULUI – Maui Minyo Kai’s Osarai Kai 2019 will be held at the Maui Okinawa Culture Center at 688 Nukuwai Place in Wailuku on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 2:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend this free event.
Each year, Maui Minyo Kai showcases its numerous dance classes by performing traditional folk and classical Japanese dances on stage.
The recital is one of the few times the public gets a chance to see dances of this kind, as Maui Minyo Kai is more known for its volunteerism at community Bon Dances throughout the county.
This year brings a special celebration to the dance club, as Lahaina resident Ken Tasaka is celebrating 30 years of teaching Japanese dance here on Maui.
The founder of Maui Minyo Kai, Tasaka-Sensei will be the first Japanese dance teacher on Maui to hit this milestone.
