David Malo Day Ho‘olaule‘a to celebrate 50th anniversary of Boarders’ Chorus and Hawaiiana Club
LAHAINA – Fifty years ago last month, Jimmie Greig resurrected the Lahainaluna High School Boarders’ Chorus, and in September of that same year, 1969, the Hawaiiana Club was established.
Now, 50 years later, the school community will celebrate!
Lahainaluna’s time-honored tradition, the David Malo Day Ho’olaule’a, will be held on Saturday, April 13, on Boarders’ Field at the Lahainaluna campus.
The 2019 theme is “Laua’e O Makana” (Beloved Gift).
The pa’ina (poi supper of poi, laulau, lomi salmon, fruit and dessert) starts at 5 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and available at the school office; call 662-4000.
At 6 p.m., the free Sunset Pageant by the Hawaiiana Club and Boarders’ Chorus begins.
Come and celebrate with Lahainaluna High School its milestone, iconic, annual event honoring David Malo, one of the historic school’s first graduates.
Lahainaluna is welcoming back all alumni, especially the Boarders’ Chorus from the 1968-69 school year and Hawaiiana Club members from the 1969-70 school year to reunite, share memories and celebrate.
Event organizers are also looking for all who presided as king and queen during the Sunset Pageants over the years.
Please get in touch with Lahainaluna High School through the main office at 662-4000.
Additionally, the LHS Class of 1969 will be holding its 50th reunion during this weekend. Members include current Principal Lynn Kahoohalahala.
Be on the lookout, as more LHS classes plan reunions for this weekend!
