With his sold-out shows for the past seven years, Bill Maher

KAHULUI – The tradition continues! For the eighth year in a row, Bill Maher will be ringing in the New Year in Hawaii at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Dec. 30.

To make this year’s celebration extra memorable, Maher will be joined by two very special guest comediennes and queens of late night comedy: Natasha Leggero and Wendy Liebman.

Maher began his career as a stand-up comedian and still performs sold-out dates across the country. But he may be best known for his television programming, which has never held back and has set the boundaries of where funny and political talk can go on American television.

First on “Politically Incorrect” (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002) and for the last ten years on HBO’s “Real Time,” Maher’s combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs has earned him 34 Emmy nominations, winning his first in 2014 as the executive producer for HBO’s “Vice.”

In 2008, he wrote and starred in “Religulous” directed by Larry Charles (“Borat”).

Wendy Liebman has been a regular on late night television. She recently made it to the semifinals of “America’s Got Talent.”

The documentary about religions around the world went on to become the eighth highest-grossing documentary ever.

Adding to this New Year’s extravaganza are Leggero and Liebman.

Leggero is an accomplished actress, writer and stand-up comedian who created, wrote, produced and stars in the Comedy Central sitcom “Another Period.”

Leggero can also be seen starring opposite Andrew Dice Clay on “DICE.”

Liebman has done half-hour specials for HBO and Comedy Central, and her first hour-long special, “Wendy Liebman Taller,” on TV premiered on Showtime in November 2017.

Tickets are $99.50 or $79.50; call 242-SHOW or visit www.MauiArts.org.
