Duo Diorama to grace Maui for free modern music concert
MAKAWAO – Ebb & Flow Arts will present Chicago-based Duo Diorama – Minghuan Xu on violin and Winston Choi on piano – in concert on Maui on Friday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m.
The free concert will be held at Makawao Union Church at 1445 Baldwin Avenue.
“We are excited to present Duo Diorama a fourth time in Hawaii,” said Robert Pollock, executive director of Ebb & Flow Arts.
“This time, they will perform on two islands. The Atherton PAS concert will be recorded for future broadcast by HPR.”
Choi and Xu, a husband and wife team, are experts in modern music. Their concerts will include works from the 20th and 21st centuries by Elliott Carter, Edward T. Cone, Stephen Blumberg, Vivian Fine, Gilad Cohen and Charles Ives.
While in Hawaii, Duo Diorama also will record two works for eventual inclusion in Ebb & Flow Arts’ fourth commercial CD.
There will be a 6:30 p.m. pre-concert discussion before the event.
Special funding for these events comes from Amphion Foundation and Edward T. Cone Foundation.
This event is part of E&FA’s annual multi-day, multi-site, international North South East West Festival 2018.
