Award-winning artists to perform at free Mele Mei ma Maui event
LAHAINA – Mele Mei ma Maui, a Na Hoku Hanohano Music Festival, will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 12-13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Banyan Tree Park in Lahaina.
Soak in Hawaii’s music, beauty and aloha with two days of special performances featuring legendary Hawaii musicians, including Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning artists.
The Lahaina lineup includes Ho’okena, Robi Kahakalau, Napua Greig, Leipono, Halemanu, Waipuna and Reiko Fukino.
Presented by the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts, the annual celebration of music and culture, Mele Mei, returns for an eighth year with a full lineup of live performances statewide.
The annual event takes place from April through June and features Hawaii musicians, including Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning and Grammy-nominated artists, performing at venues and events across Hawaii as well as in Japan.
“Mele Mei has become an annual tradition that shares and perpetuates the aloha spirit through the celebration of Hawaii’s music, artists and musicians,” said Pali Ka’aihue, Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts president.
“These events are an opportunity to put our talented Hawaii artists center stage and bring together the community with the sounds of our islands.”

The Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts (HARA) was established in 1982 with a mission to preserve, perpetuate, promote and celebrate Hawaii’s music and recording industry.
The organization is responsible for coordinating and hosting the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, which today has evolved into an industry awards ceremony administered by recording professionals.
