Artists to lead workshops at 26th annual Celebration of the Arts

Denby Freeland’s “Ne’e puu — To Move Together” is this year’s signature artwork for the festival.
KAPALUA – The 26th annual Celebration of the Arts takes place at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua on March 30-31.
Village Galleries was key in creating this event at the request of the hotel management to honor the local artists who provided over 110 original paintings for The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, which opened in October of 1992.
This was the first Ritz-Carlton worldwide to showcase local art, and it was a landmark occasion.
Since then, it has grown to become the most respected art and cultural event in the state, providing education and entertainment to local residents and visitors alike. All are welcome.
This year’s signature image, “Ne’e pu – To Move Together,” was created by artist and kapa-maker Denby Freeland (for more information on Freeland, visit
www.villagegalleriesmaui.com/VillageGalleriesMaui/DenbyFreeland.html.)
Village Galleries’ leading artists will provide the unique opportunity for guests and visitors to participate in complimentary “hands-on” workshops, where they can create their own artwork coached by a professional artist.
This year’s artists include Betty Hay Freeland, Rich Kenny, Macario Pascual, Joe Fletcher, Bonnie Fox, Michael Clements, Kathy Long, Terry Klerlein, Suzy Papanikolas, Kathleen Alexander, Casey McLain and Fred KenKnight.
On the cultural side, The Ritz-Carlton presents workshops, displays, cultural presentations and entertainment on an exceptional level (see page 2).
