KAHULUI – Enjoy an evening oceanfront and under the stars with live musical performances by the Makaha Sons at “Kokua for Kupuna,” Hale Makua Health Services’ annual fundraiser.

The benefit event celebrating the nonprofit organization’s 70th year of providing care for Maui’s kupuna will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 5 p.m. at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa in Kaanapali. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help those who cannot afford healthcare services.

“Kokua for Kupuna” will also include an opening performance by Halemanu, Hawaiian dinner buffet, two hosted drinks, silent auction with over 100 fabulous items from local retailers and restaurants, and door prizes.

Tickets are $140 for adults and $1,500 for a reserved table of ten with premium seating, and can be purchased by calling 871-9283 or visiting www.halemakua.org.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating a 70-Year Heritage of Caring,” will pay tribute to the organization’s rich cultural heritage and honor its 1946 founders: Wailuku Hongwanji and the Maui United Young Buddhist Association. These two groups were instrumental in finding and building a home for Maui’s elders, and the beginnings of a 70-year legacy of providing care to those who have no one to care for them and no means to pay for care.

“Kokua for Kupuna” is made possible by the generous support of sponsors. The Title Sponsors are Atlas Insurance Agency and Kaiser Permanente.
