Fred’s Garage to rock the night at Rotary party
LAHAINA – Fred’s Garage, a classic West Maui rock and roll band, will provide the dance music at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s “Go For The Green” party on March 14. Residents and visitors are invited to join the fun at the luau grounds at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Kaanapali.
Event proceeds will support community recycling in West Maui and the club’s other community service programs.
“We’re thrilled to have Fred’s Garage for our early St. Patty’s Day Party,” said Liz May, Rotary club co-president. “The dinner/dance party will be preceded by a nine-hole golf tournament, and proceeds of both events will help foster community recycling programs in West Maui. It’s green for St. Patty’s Day, green for golf and green for recycling.
“We hope this will be the best St. Patrick’s Day party in West Maui. We invite folks to join us as we kick up our heels, do a little jig and have a great time. And it’s all for a great cause,” May added.
Fred’s Garage consists of Ray Chin on drums, Mark Jackson on guitar and Jason Jerome on bass guitar and vocals. For this event, special guest saxophonist Kit Okazaki will perform with the band.
The band’s blog site (fredsgaragemaui.wordpress.com) sums up their passionate and infectious style of playing: “From the ashes of a deprived West Maui music scene comes a band that plays unadulterated rock and roll.”
The “Go For The Green” Rotary party will include no-host bar, dinner, dancing and silent auction. Attendees may purchase dinner tickets for $75 per person, or nine-hole golf and dinner tickets for $125 per person. Discounts are available for dinner tables of eight with or without golf.
