Yo-Yo Ma coming to the MACC

A Kennedy Center Honoree, CultureConnect Ambassador and U.N Messenger of Peace, Yo-Yo Ma has received numerous prestigious music awards. He has also played as a soloist with most major orchestras to universal critical acclaim and the love of listeners around the world, even outside the classical music domain.
KAHULUI – A superstar of the international music world, Yo-Yo Ma will perform on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater.
Yo-Yo Ma is well-known as one of the finest cellists of this generation and a musician of unusually broad appeal.
His 90 albums have won 17 Grammy Awards. In addition to recordings of the standard classical repertoire, he has recorded bluegrass music, traditional Chinese melodies, Argentinian tangos and Brazilian music, and he has collaborated with a spectrum of acclaimed musicians.
His fine musicianship and intellectually rigorous analysis of the music have earned him the respect of his peers, and his adventurous, eclectic repertoire – and easygoing, friendly stage personality – have gained him great success with audiences around the world.
