Annual show features art related to Hawaii
MAKAWAO – Viewpoints Gallery will host its tenth annual “Celebration of Hawaii” invitational exhibit from Jan. 10 to Feb. 11.
The show features celebrated artists throughout Hawaii chosen for their unique awareness of Hawaiian culture.
A grand opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 4:30 p.m. Enjoy a Hawaiian blessing and an evening of hula performed by Kumu Hula Gordean Bailey and her Halau Wehiwehi O Leilehua.
This show is a benefit to all contributing Hawaiian organizations. All events are open and free to the public.

The entire gallery is transformed into a comprehensive display of art related to Hawaii. Collectors from around the state and the world await this exhibit, which has become an annual pilgrimage for many.
Oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, wood, ceramic, stone, metal, fiber, photography, jewelry, glass and kapa have been transformed by some of the finest talents in Hawaii and coalesced into a collection of cultural importance.
Related events include a lecture by Timothy Paulokaleioku Bailey on the aha moku system on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m., and welfare of natural and cultural resources in Hawaii.
A Hawaiian Tea Time will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 3 p.m. Enjoy a delightful afternoon with live music, hula, Hawaiian teas and homemade sweets. Be part of the fun and dress up with vintage aloha wear and Hawaiian- style garments!
