MAKAWAO – Ebb & Flow Arts will complete its 15th season on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 5 p.m. by presenting New York City-based Vox n Plux at the A’ali’ikuhonua Creative Arts Center on the campus of Seabury Hall.

Admission is free. A pre-concert discussion starts at 4 p.m.

The program of songs and guitar music will include recently commissioned works composed within the last two years. The featured composers – Laurie San Martin, Richard Festinger and Stephen Blumberg – are based in California.

Blumberg will be present at the concert. He is co-director of a major music festival in Sacramento, the Festival of New American Music, an annual ten-day event that has existed for nearly 40 years.

Also on the program are works by Charles Ives, Harold Meltzer, Robert Pollock, William Anderson and others.

The program comprises several text-settings. Wonderful poems by James Joyce, Robinson Jeffers and others will be printed in the concert program.

“A’ali’ikuhonua Creative Arts Center is the recently completed jewel of a facility on Maui,” said Ebb & Flow Arts Director Robert Pollock.

“Besides beautiful music, our concert also offers an excellent opportunity for Mauians to experience chamber music in this remarkable theater.”

This concert is supported with special underwriting by The Makana Aloha Foundation. The Roger Shapiro Fund for New Music underwrote the commissioned works.
