Matisyahu and Steel Pulse to play at the MACC
KAHULUI – Matisyahu and Steel Pulse will play at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s A&B Amphitheater/Yokouchi Pavilion on Saturday, June 14, at 5:30 p.m.
Matisyahu first made a name for himself with his album “Live at Stubbs,” quickly followed by “Youth.” Both albums achieved Gold status, and “Youth” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
In 2009, his “Light” reached number one on the reggae album chart and stayed in the top spot for 34 weeks.
Matisyahu’s fourth studio album, “Spark Seeker,” also debuted at number one on the reggae chart, marked his relocation from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and found him working with Dr. Luke protg KoOoL Kojak.
Steel Pulse may have explored various styles of music since they started out in 1975, but when it comes to the message, the U.K.’s Grammy-winning reggae band has remained close to their roots.
Tickets are $39 in advance or $45 the day of the show ($80/$85 for VIP tickets). Call 242-SHOW for tickets.
