Maui Community Band to play free spring concert

The Maui Community Band’s spring concert will feature everything from a rousing march to blues and swing.

WAILUKU – The Maui Community Band under the direction of Lisa Owen will hold its spring concert on Thursday, May 29, at the Historic Iao Theater in Wailuku at 7 p.m.

Admission is free; however, donations are welcome.

This concert promises to be full of exciting music and enthusiasm, as the band will be a week away from their trip to Canada, where they will perform at the Ladner Band Festival near Vancouver.

The program for the spring concert will include everything from a rousing march to blues and swing. One of the highlights will be an American Indian piece featuring an eight-member percussion section.

Assistant conductors will be Lance Jo, Stephen Rodrigues and Ted Manzano.
