Celebrate love for the sea at Lahaina’s Second Friday Town Party

Maui Jam will perform in Campbell Park across from Lahaina Public Library during Lahaina’s Second Friday Town Party.
LAHAINA – As February’s Second Friday event falls on Valentine’s Day, celebrate “Love For the Ocean” in Campbell Park from 5 to 8 p.m.
Campbell Park will come alive with a full range of family activities for learning and fun with the theme of love for the sea.
There will be live music with Maui Jam, followed by a drum performance from the Boys & Girls Club-Lahaina.
The event will feature the movie premiere of “Whale Love” presented by National Geographic photographer Flip Nicklin and videographer Jason Sturgis, as well as face painting, art class tutorials from Magenta BLVD, and ocean-related programs by the Hawaii Ocean Project, Maui Spearfishing Academy and Pana Surfboards.
Ono grinds will be served in the park by the Hawaiian Civic Club, Boys & Girls Club-Lahaina and new vendors.
To encourage those writing of their “Love for the Ocean,” LahainaTown Action Committee will hand out information about the first annual Maui Short Story Writing Competition. For more information, call LAC at 667-9175.
As the sun sets and “pau hana” begins, what better way to start the weekend than to shop Lahaina’s world-renowned art galleries, meet artists, talk story and share in some complimentary pupus and wine from 6 to 9 p.m. Pick up your free Art Map compliments of the Lahaina Visitor Center at the Old Lahaina Courthouse in Banyan Tree Park.
Live music slated on Second Friday includes Willie K at Kimo’s from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. (pick up your stamped Hula Pie card at the Lahaina Visitor Center for free admission), Evan Schulman at Hard Rock Caf from 6 to 9 p.m. and live music on The Wharf Cinema Center stage.
