Slack Key Show to feature stellar September lineup

By Staff | Sep 12, 2013

The Slack Key Show will welcome Sean Na‘auao on Sept. 25 for a CD release party.

NAPILI – George Kahumoku Jr.’s Grammy Award-winning “Slack Key Show Masters of Hawaiian Music” will present some spectacular, “not to be missed” shows in September.

Shows are performed every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Napili Kai Beach Resort’s Pavilion in West Maui.

This month will feature special performances by Hawaii award-winning performing artists Brother Noland, David Kamakahi and Sean Na’auao.

And, mark your calendars, as the show will celebrate its tenth year at a special anniversary concert on Oct. 16.

On Sept. 11, innovator and iconic Hawaiian man Brother Noland will be back “Nolanizing” original and traditional songs, and telling entertaining stories of his life in Hawaii. Traditional meets contemporary in his music.

George Kahumoku Jr. has a new instructional DVD called “Taro Patch F Intermediate” for those wishing to learn slack key guitar. It is available for sale at the “Slack Key Show – Masters of Hawaiian Music” and also online at www.Kahumoku.com.

On Sept. 18, enjoy music with David Kamakahi. Ukulele rising star Kamakahi, the lead ukulele player (and also vocalist) in the multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning group Waipuna, returns for a great solo performance. Experience ukulele playing at its best!

On Sept. 25, Na’auao will hold a release party for his new CD, simply called “Na’auao.” Hear his newest songs and meet this exceptional vocalist and slack key guitarist.

All of the shows will be hosted by Kahumoku, show regulars Da Ukulele Boyz (Peter deAquino and Garrett Probst), Sterling Seaton and dancer Wainani Kealoha.

Artists CDs and DVDs are available for purchase, with autographs signed during the intermissions. Refreshments are offered.

Buy tickets online at www.SlackKeyShow.com or call 669-3858. A pre-show dinner at the Sea House with show package is also available.
