WAILUKU – It’s time to get your tickets for Maui Academy of Performing Arts’ 25th annual Garden Party on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 5 p.m. on the beautiful grounds of the Yokouchi family estate in Wailuku.

This year’s event celebrates its Silver Anniversary and will feature new restaurants and artists, as well as well-known participants from previous years.

Featuring live entertainment with selections from MAPA’s recent smash hit “Les Miserables,” the Garden Party is one of the island’s signature events highlighting the culinary, fine and performing arts.

Adding to this year’s ambiance, guests will also enjoy viewing several vintage cars and motorcycles and indulge in spa services provided by Kapalua Spa.

Linda Howlett, MAPA’s board secretary and chairwoman for the event, shared the importance of this benefit to the Maui community.

“MAPA has grown into one of the state’s largest performing arts organizations, reaching over 45,000 children every year. The Garden Party fundraiser plays an essential role in ensuring that MAPA’s programs remain accessible and affordable,” she said.

The Garden Party features an impressive Chefs’ Festival with gourmet offerings from Maui restaurants, great class wines, locally brewed beer and an assortment of nonalcoholic beverages. Participating restaurants include Bentos & Banquets by Bernard, Bistro Casanova, Caf O’Lei Restaurants, Capische?, Duke’s Beach House, Flatbread Company, Maui Chocolate Fountain, Maui Tacos Mexican Surf Grill, Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman, The Plantation House Restaurant, Spago, Stella Blues Cafe, Three’s Bar & Grill, Vineyard Food Company by Catering from Soup to Nuts, and Waterfront Restaurant.

One of the event’s signature offerings is “Fresh Art.” As guests meander through the picturesque grounds, they watch some of the island’s top painters and sculptors create beautiful works of art to be sold at the event’s live auction. Maui artists creating this year include Robin Bones, Karen Camara, Michael Clements, Tim DeShong, Joseph Fletcher, Jack Hamilton, Rebecca Lowell, Susie Burnside Monroe, Jamie Roth, Jan Shaner and Steve Turnbull.

The Garden Party also features a fabulous silent auction with hotel stays, activities, jewelry, artwork and themed baskets. The live auction features the “Fresh Art” created onsite by participating artists, and The Giving Tree will offer attendees the opportunity to support other MAPA programs.

During the Chefs’ Festival, local duo Moondance (Jim Howlett and Rudy Esquer) will play live jazz.

Tickets are $75 ($85 at the event) and include all food and beverages served plus complementary spa services from Kapalua Spa.

Guests may purchase tickets by phone at 244-8760 or in person at the MAPA office at 81 N. Church St. in Wailuku, the Whole Foods Market Customer Service Desk, Topaz Goldsmith & Gallery in Kihei, Brazilian Beauty Boutique and The Nail Shop, Kihei.

The Garden Party is for adults 21 and over only. For more information about MAPA, visit www.mauiacademy.org or call 244-8760.
