Crosby and Nash concert to support ‘Ruth’s Ride’

By Staff | Aug 8, 2013

David Crosby (left) and Graham Nash will bring their legacy of timeless song writing, indelible vocals and peerless harmonies to the MACC on Aug. 29.

KAHULUI – Thursday, Aug. 29, is destined to be a night full of lifetime memories, when Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Crosby & Nash perform at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Show time is 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are priced at $45, $55, $75 and $95 (includes premium seating and autographed Crosby & Nash DVD), with a limited number of $150 seats, which include premium seating and post-show meet and greet.

Tickets are available at the MACC Box Office, by phone at 242-SHOW or online at www.mauiarts.org.

As a duo, longtime creative partners Crosby and Nash bring out the best in each other. Their distinct yet complementary styles balance an equation that delivers a seamless and inspiring musical whole.

Two-thirds and one-half, respectively, of Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, these two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees (CSN and The Byrds/The Hollies, respectively) are legendary for their sublime vocal harmonies. It is a sound that’s one of the true touchstones of the rock era.

The hits include “Wasted on the Way,” “Long Time Gone,” “Just a Song Before I Go,” “Dj Vu,” “Our House,” “Guinevere,” “Cathedral,” “Almost Cut My Hair,” “Wooden Ships” and “Teach Your Children.”

Proceeds from this show will be donated to “Ruth’s Ride.” Ruth Benavides is the daughter of Maui resident Bob Benavides, dear friend and former bus driver for Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Ruth, 10, is nonverbal and cannot walk on her own. She lives with her father and attends Kula Elementary School.

For the last two years, Bob and Ruth Benavides have participated in the national Mobility Awareness Month Contest sponsored by the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association, in hopes to win a wheelchair and wheelchair-accessible van.

Last year, through donations from friends, Ruth finally received a new red wheelchair. Crosby and Nash are performing on Maui to raise funds to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van for Ruth.
