Chicago’s Duo Diorama to perform in Makena

Duo Diorama is comprised of violinist Minghuan Xu and pianist Winston Choi.
MAKENA – On Saturday, July 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Keawala’i Congregational Church in Makena, Ebb & Flow Arts will present a free concert by Duo Diorama.
After a pre-concert discussion at 6:30 p.m., the duo of Minghuan Xu (violin) and Winston Choi (piano) will perform a contemporary classic by Igor Stravinsky and offer exciting Hawaii premieres by living composers.
The program will include Stravinsky’s neoclassical “Duo Concertante” (1932) and John Corigliano’s “Sonata” (1963).
“We are thrilled to have Duo Diorama for a return engagement,” said Robert Pollock, founder and director of Ebb & Flow Arts.
“Their performance two years ago remains an artistic highlight of Ebb & Flow Arts’ 15 years of concert presentation.”
Also on the program are Mischa Zupko’s “Shades of Gray” (2006), Huang Ruo’s “The Invisible Compass” (2012) and a world premiere of Pollock’s “Duo No. 6” (2013).
