WEST MAUI – West Maui artist Macario Pascual announced his acceptance into two prestigious arts organizations and that his paintings will be included in a national exhibit.

Pascual was recently accepted into the Oil Painters of America (OPA), an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting excellence in representational art.

With the urging and recommendation of Jean Stern, director of the Irvine Museum, Pascual was also accepted into the California Arts Club (CAC).

One of the largest and most active professional art organizations in the nation, CAC was founded more than 100 years ago with roots to California and American Impressionism.

Pascual, who attended King Kamehameha III and Lahainaluna High School, also learned that his recent paintings have been selected for inclusion into this year’s 22nd National Art Exhibition and Sale.

The juried show accepted two of Pascual’s oils – “Tidepools, Lanai” and “Sunset at Eagles Bluff” – to be part of this major art event in Colorado.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Art Association of Northern Colorado and will be held from April 5-26 in Fort Collins. The juror was Dennis Rhoades, artist and publisher of Plein Air Magazine.

Pascual has been a West Side resident for all but four years of his life. At age 13 in 1969, he was Lahaina Arts Society’s first art scholarship recipient.
