‘Maui Teens Got Talent’ starts Saturday at Stella Blues

“We are thrilled to team up with Stella Blues Cafe, who is known for its generous spirit and giving to Maui’s community,” said Dean Wong, Imua Family Services’ executive director.
KIHEI – The event that has talented teens on Maui singing is moving from Lahaina to Kihei.
Imua Family Services and Stella Blues Cafe have partnered up to make “Maui Teens Got Talent” an ongoing monthly challenge.
Every third Saturday of the month, island teens will face off in a vocal challenge to win the ultimate title of “Maui’s Most Talented Teen.”
The event will begin at Stella Blues Cafe on Saturday, March 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This family event benefits Imua Family Services. Many of the children IFS provides services for have critical health concerns.
For families, this can mean constant trips to Oahu for medical treatment and hospital visits. Groceries and living expenses often take a back seat to the more urgent need, which can mean life or death for a young child.
Come out to support Maui’s crooners and rockers as they take the stage in front of a panel of Maui musicians, vocal coaches and expert judges.
Dean Wong, Imua Family Services’ executive director, enlisted Maui vocal coach Joy Fields to coordinate the singing contestants. Participants from 11 to 19 years of age can choose from ballads to rock and roll to wow the judges and audience/diners. To register, call Fields at 264-1275.
Wong reminded the teens, “Remember, there are no losers. What we will have are teens who want to help our families who are in critical, dire need with special needs children here… this is truly singing for a cause.”
Imua Family Services is the island’s leader in providing comprehensive early childhood development services to children with developmental delays, special needs and disabilities. The agency also offers support and resources to the keiki’s families to help the child achieve full potential in life.
Each year, more than 2,500 community members on Maui and Lanai receive support from Imua Family Services through the Infant & Child Development Program, Early Childhood Development Program, Newborn Hearing Screening, and Camp Imua.
