The Wharf to celebrate the Year of the Snake

Chinese New Year lion dances will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at The Wharf Cinema Center’s Front Street entrance.

LAHAINA – Wake up the sleeping lions and celebrate the arrival of the new lunar Year of the Snake at The Wharf Cinema Center on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 11:30 a.m.

The Wharf’s 28th annual Chinese New Year celebration will be led by Master Ben Seng Au and Au’s Shaolin Arts Society.

At the Front Street entrance of the center, fireworks will crackle as the celebration begins.

The dancing lions will make their way down to center stage as drums beat to announce their arrival.

Kindergarten students at King Kamehameha III and Sacred Hearts School and preschoolers from Holy Innocents, Sacred Hearts and Kamaaina Kids Lahaina will take part in the event.

After the playful lions perform, the children will eagerly feed Red Lai See envelopes to the hungry lions for good luck.

The public is invited to come on down and celebrate. Admission is free.
