KAHULUI – On a mission to put you in a merry mood, Maui Pops Orchestra and guest vocalists will share holiday favorites in a festive atmosphere at Holiday Pops on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
Each year, the orchestra kick-starts the holidays with this concert.
The 2012 concert will feature Ignace “Iggy” Jang, concertmaster of the Hawaii Symphony and former concertmaster of the Maui Symphony, performing movements from Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.”
Favorite local vocalists joining the orchestra will be Erin Smith, Lily Meola, Felicity Raugust, Jimmy Mac, Jerry Eiting, Jamie Lawrence and Alexis and Steven Dascoulias.
This year, the orchestra is dedicating part of each ticket purchase to The Friends of the Children’s Justice Center, which will use the funds to purchase gifts for teenage clients who have been victims of child abuse. In addition, audience members are invited to bring new, unwrapped gifts for younger children who are clients of the agency.
This program is supported in part by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts through appropriations from the Hawaii Legislature and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Tickets are $10 to $45 plus the MACC’s fees; call 242-7469 or visit www.mauiarts.org.
